The Mizpah.
The Mizpah Tower has watched over Syracuse for more than a century. Originally built in 1914 as the First Baptist Church, the space later echoed with concerts from The Band, Warren Zevon, Soul Asylum, and other legendary artists. Years passed. The building slept. And like the city it overlooks, it gathered a few scars along the way.
Today, those scars are part of its soul.
The Mizpah — our "Wine Sanctuary & Event Space" — is a celebration of that legacy. Owner Michael Greene saw in this Gothic landmark not just a venue, but a narrative: a beautiful old building with a past worth honoring and a future ready to host new memories. Today, The Mizpah is Syracuse's most distinctive wedding venue and event space, and home to a wine bar with a hand-picked wine selection unlike anywhere else in Central New York.
"Mizpah" means watchtower — a word chosen during World War I to symbolize connection across places and lives. It feels fitting. This building has watched generations come and go. Now it's watching a renaissance — hosting weddings, private events, and wine bar nights in the very sanctuary where it all began.
